Transparent tape for cartons, in bulk and big rolls
For sealing white, printed or branded cartons, use 2 inch (48 mm) clear BOPP tape. For heavy cartons above about 15 kg, use 3 inch (72 mm). How to choose transparent tape
- Width first. 1 inch (24 mm) for envelopes, files and gift wrap. 2 inch (48 mm) for most courier cartons. 3 inch (72 mm) for big or heavy cartons and wide gaps between the flaps.
- Then roll length. A 65 m roll fits any hand dispenser. A 300 m roll holds about as much as four and a half 65 m rolls, and a 500 m roll nearly eight, so the packer stops to change rolls far less often. Check the largest roll your dispenser takes before you order a long roll.
- Then quantity. A shop or a small seller does well with a set of 6 to 30 rolls. A packing room that seals cartons all day saves time on reorders with a bulk pack of 36 or 72 rolls.

Clear or brown tape?
Clear tape lets the box print, and any label under the tape, stay readable. On a plain brown carton, brown packing tape looks neater and hides scuffs.
