Packaging material for Amazon sellers

For Easy Ship and self-ship orders you pack the parcel yourself, so you need courier bags or cartons, packing tape, cushioning, 4 x 6 inch shipping labels and a place for the invoice. PackSmith sells all of these except cartons, plus 2 x 1 inch barcode labels for product and SKU labels. PackSmith is not affiliated with Amazon.

What Amazon's own pages say

  • Amazon's seller blog on Easy Ship recommends Amazon branded packaging material for packing orders, with the shipping label and the invoice attached to the package. It is a recommendation, and our bags and tapes are not Amazon branded packaging.
  • Amazon Shipping's packaging guide (January 2025) asks for packages of at least 20 x 16 cm, polybags thicker than 50 microns labelled with the maker's details, shipping labels of at least 4 x 6 inches, and the invoice inside the parcel. Our courier bags are 60 micron LDPE and our shipping labels are 4 x 6 inch.
  • FBA has its own prep and polybag rules in Seller Central. Check them there before you prepare stock for an Amazon warehouse.

What to buy

  • Courier bags: 60 micron, tamper-evident, with a POD jacket, six sizes from 6x8 to 14x18 inch, 100 bags a pack.
  • Packing tape: 2 inch clear or brown BOPP tape, or our printed tapes for Amazon sellers in white 2 inch and black 3 inch. Keep tape off the label barcode.
  • Labels: 4 x 6 inch direct thermal shipping labels, and 2 x 1 inch barcode labels, 1,000 a roll, for product and SKU labels. Check the label size Seller Central asks for.
  • Cushioning: honeycomb paper wrap, padded paper mailers and void fill paper for anything that can break.
  • Invoices on cartons: self-adhesive packing list envelopes.

Bigger carts get 5%, 7% or 10% off above ₹1,000, ₹2,000 and ₹3,000, and bulk packs bring the cost per order down.

Questions buyers ask

What packaging material do Amazon sellers need for Easy Ship orders?

Courier bags or cartons, packing tape, cushioning for anything that can break, 4 x 6 inch shipping labels and a way to attach the invoice. PackSmith sells all of these except cartons. PackSmith is not affiliated with Amazon.

Do I have to use Amazon branded packaging?

Amazon's seller blog on Easy Ship recommends Amazon branded packaging material. We found no Amazon page that makes it compulsory for Easy Ship, but check Seller Central for your category. Our bags and tapes are not Amazon branded packaging.

What size shipping label do I need?

Amazon Shipping's packaging guide asks for labels of at least 4 x 6 inches. Our 4 x 6 inch direct thermal labels need no ink and fit common thermal label printers. Check your printer fit first.

How thick should a polybag be for Amazon orders?

Amazon Shipping's packaging guide asks for polybags thicker than 50 microns. Our courier bags are 60 micron LDPE. FBA has separate polybag rules in Seller Central.

Do you sell barcode labels for product and SKU labels?

Yes. 2 x 1 inch (50 x 25 mm) direct thermal labels, 1,000 a roll. Check the label size Seller Central asks for before you order.

Will I get a GST invoice?

Yes. Add your GSTIN in the cart before checkout and it goes on the invoice. Delivery is free across India.
