Why test a material before you buy a pack?

Packaging looks the same on a phone screen. It does not feel the same in your hand.

A honeycomb mailer that suits a pair of earrings may be too tight for a candle jar. Brown tape and clear tape both close a carton, but they look very different on a box that carries your brand.

A photo cannot tell you any of this.

Your own product, your own box and your own packing table can. We would rather you choose the right material once than return the wrong one later.

How do I test a sample properly?

My rule is simple. Test it the way a customer's parcel will actually travel, and five checks are enough.

Use your real product, not something "about the same size".
Pack it exactly as you would for a paying customer, with the same box or bag.
Close the box and shake it hard for 5 seconds. Nothing should move. If something knocks, add more fill.
For tape, press a strip down firmly on your own carton, leave it for a while and then try to lift the edge.
For a courier bag or mailer, seal it with the product inside and check that the flap closes flat, without strain.

What can a sample not tell you?

There is one limit, and I will say it plainly.

A sample tells you about fit, feel and look. It cannot tell you how a material behaves over 500 orders, or in a wet week in a courier van.

So once a sample passes your checks, buy the smallest pack. Then ship a few real orders. Delivery on every PackSmith order is free across India, so that small first pack costs you only its store price.
