This is a pack of 5 notebook cover rolls, each 14 inch wide and 3 m long. It comes in two versions: plain orange, or cartoon print. It is for parents covering school books at the start of the session, and for shops and schools that buy covers in bulk.

The cartoon pack in the photos has 5 different rolls, with backgrounds in orange, red, white, blue and yellow, all printed with cartoon characters. The orange pack is 5 rolls of one plain orange sheet with a fine line texture.

How many books does one roll cover?

Here is the maths I would do. A notebook of about 24 x 18 cm opens flat to roughly 24 x 37 cm. Add 3 cm on every side to fold over, and you need a piece of about 30 x 43 cm. Lay the book's height across the 35.6 cm width of the roll, and each cover uses about 43 cm of length. So one 3 m roll covers about 6 such notebooks, and a pack of 5 covers about 30.

Your books may be bigger or smaller, so measure one before you count.

Where it works best

1. Cartoon print for the younger classes, where a child likes the cover and finds the book faster.
2. Plain orange for older students, or for a school that wants every book in one colour.
3. Return gifts and back-to-school kits, where a pack of 5 rolls splits easily between children.

How to choose

One honest limit. A 14 inch roll is a tight fit for A4 registers, because an A4 book is almost 30 cm tall and leaves very little to fold over. Use it for regular notebooks, and measure first for anything bigger.
