26 Years of Making Packaging: Our MD's Anniversary Message

When JPPL completed 26 years of production, our Managing Director, Mr Pooran Mal Agarwal, sat down and wrote a thank-you note. It was addressed to three groups of people. Our clients, our vendors and our team.

I am the CEO now, and I read that note again this week. I want to share what he said in my own words, and add one thing he did not say. Why should a buyer care how old a supplier is?

What did our MD say on the 26th anniversary?

His note was emotional. That is normal for him. He built JPPL from a small factory in Jaipur. The company was set up in 1995 and the first production started in 1997, so 26 years of making things felt personal to him.

His message came down to four points.

  1. He thanked our clients for trusting us with their orders, year after year.
  2. He thanked our vendors, because no factory runs without the people who send it film, paper and adhesive on time.
  3. He said plainly that the years were not all good. There were hard periods and we learned from them.
  4. He called JPPL a family, and said we only grow if we grow together.

He ended with gratitude. I will do the same at the end of this post.

Does a supplier's age mean anything to you?

Honestly, age by itself proves nothing. A company can be 26 years old and still send you a bad batch on Monday. Judge us by the last roll of tape you opened, not by the year on our letterhead.

But age does tell you a few useful things.

  1. The supplier has survived bad years, which means it has a way of fixing its own mistakes.
  2. Someone will still pick up the phone next year, when you need the same item again.
  3. The specs you approved today have a better chance of being the same specs in your next order.

That third point is the one I care about most, because consistency between two deliveries is something a buyer cannot see in a sample, a catalogue or a visit to our office. In packaging, the cheapest roll is the one that matches the last roll. If your tape changes thickness between two orders, or your courier bag changes colour, your packing team notices before your customer does. It costs you time either way.

So when you try a new supplier, any supplier, order twice before you decide. The first order shows what they can make. The second order shows what they will keep making.

What has changed since that note was written?

There was a time when JPPL made mostly plastic packaging for buyers in and around Rajasthan. Today we export to 20+ countries, and paper is a big part of what we make.

If you have only seen us as a tape company, have a look at our honeycomb paper range and the paper packaging collection. Both come from the same plant that has been running since 1997.

As I write this in 2026, we are close to 30 years of production. We have grown. We have also become more careful about quality documentation, approvals and repeat specifications, which I think matters more to a regular customer than any anniversary number.

A thank-you, in his spirit

If you have ever ordered from us, you are part of those 26 years. Thank you for the orders, the complaints and the patience. The complaints helped us more than the compliments, to be honest.

If you need something we do not list on PackSmith, a custom size or a bulk quantity, write to us and my team will reply.

Grateful, as always.
