Latest government policy on the ban on single-use plastics
On June 28, the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change announced that the government would begin a nationwide ban upon certain single-use plastic products from 1st July 2022. The government took a significant move to reduce pollution brought on by discarded and poorly managed plastic garbage on the special occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava. From July 1, 2022, India will outlaw the production, import, stocking, distribution, sale, and use of specific single-use plastic items that have a high potential for littering and poor utility.
